America's quirky and lovable subcompact, the AMC Gremlin competed with the Vega, Pinto, and Beetle and even the emerging Toyota Corolla. Originally advertised as the first American-built import, the Gremlin name and design aimed to be "cute or controversial, depending on one's viewpoint. The Gremlin's mascot (a Martian or a gnome?) was an instant hit, the gas caps were popular to steal and collect then and now (this car sports the original gas cap, as well as the Gremlin mascot logos on both front fenders). This car is surprisingly peppy and fun to drive--easy three-on-the-tree shifting and fast acceleration. The car has been painted white with red and blue accent strips and the interior features new bold blue and red upholstery. The headliner, dash, floor, and door panels all appear to be original (the headliner has one small hole).
