Exceptionally well-preserved original California car. Bought new in Los Angeles in 1959. Original Gotham Gold paint and interior. We believe this car is eligible for AACA Historic Preservation Original Features (HPOF) designation. The exterior paint presents very nicely and the car looks great overall. There are a few dings on the exterior and the lower panels did have some paint touch ups. Chrome and trim are believe to be all original and present very nicely--no damage, pitting or discoloration.
The interior is all original too. The rear seats were covered in typical plastic of the era. When we removed the plastic cover, a pristine untouched all original seat was revealed. Our upholstery specialist said he believes no one has ever sat in the back seat. The carpet is good overall. The headliner is very good. The enormous dash is well above average as these extra large dash tops are notorious for cracking and splitting--and this dash is all intact with no damage. The door panels are very good overall and shown some wear. The dash is all original too. There are two missing cosmetic pieces: a Cadillac emblem on the steering wheel horn hub and the lock for the glove compartment. The front seat driver area shows some wear on the original vinyl and fabric, though it did receive the benefit of some restuffing of the inner linings.
The enormous trunk is all original and the undercarriage is rust free and accident free. This car gets thumbs up whereever we go and is truly an All American icon.
