1946 Hudson C-28 3/4 Ton Pickup--SOLD (Portugal) - $0
Rare 1946 Hudson C-28 3/4 Ton Pick Up Truck. The truck that is a car! Hudson literally took their sedan bodies and chopped them in half to create a pick up truck. From the front and inside the dash looks like a car. From the back, it's a truck.
Finished in Hudson's Jamestown Blue. Rare survivor with a newly rebuilt motor with less than 500 miles on it. Solid and complete, the truck also has a new headliner. Interior is good, with nice bench seat and door panels finished in blue vinyl. Paint is OK--and older respray that has scuffs and wear all around that give it a great authentic look. Nice pale yellow tire rims accent the unusual color of the truck. Solid body and frame with only minor surface rusts and just a few minor repair areas on body.
Have extensive documentation on restoration and maintenance Over 40 receipts from the early 1990s through 2007, recording work performed on the truck across one family's ownership across two generations and over 20 years. In 2001, the engine was rebuilt by an automotive machine shop. Work included resurfaced heads and block, valve job, honed and bored engine, ground crankshaft, magnafluxed, jet hot cleaned with over $1500 of new engine parts with detailed receipts. In 2007, truck had new engine wiring, including park and turn light bucket wires, headlight junction block harness, horn relay wiring, coil to distributor wire, generator harness, and engine harness. Also new tires (Excelsior Black 600-16). New fuel pump, fuel filter, points, tarp paces, crump and seal wire connectors to repair carburetor. Repaired rear brakes.
The 1946 Hudson pickup was powered by Hudson long-stroke (76.2-mm bore, 127-mm stroke) side-valve “Super Six” engine that featured a chrome alloy cylinder block. With a displacement of 3.5 litres, it developed 102 horsepower. Its three-speed manual transmission was column-shifted when other trucks still used a floor-shift. Naturally, it had Hudson’s famous cork-insert, oil-immersed clutch, and overdrive was available, unusual for a pickup. The Hudson pickup was fitted with a cavernous cargo box measuring a generous 2,362 mm long, 1,219 mm wide and over 457 mm deep, providing 48 cubic feet of cargo volume. Of the 95,000 vehicles that Hudson manufactured in 1946, only about 3% were pick up trucks. The '46 Hudson truck model was officially called a Series 58 Commercial with a 128" wheel base. It weight 3500 pounds, was priced new at $1,522, and there were 3,374 made.
