1954 MG TF Roadster--SOLD (South Carolina) - $0
Exceptional 1954 MG TF Roadster For Sale or Trade.
We're proud to offer this outstanding preservation class TF Roadster, from the esteemed collection of Martin & Janet Schorer, pioneering members of the New England MG T Register. Accompanying this fine motorcar is perhaps more provenance than we've ever seen with a classic vehicle. The Schorers--still going strong at 90--have been devoted to each other for over 65 years of marriage and devoted to their beloved TF Roadster over 60 years of ownership.
They bought the car new in 1954 in Framingham, Massachusetts. "The salesman tried to talk us into a Sunbeam," remembers Janet, "but we fell for the MG TF and haven't looked back since." Janet compiled meticulous scrapbooks and photo albums of their many rallys, cruises, races, and shows with the New England MG T Register club. There are over a dozen large sized scrapbooks chronicling the history of the car and the loyal stewardship of its owners, the much loved Schorers. The club holds the "Gathering of the Faithful" (GOF) meets and the Schorers' missed nary a meet over many decades. The ephemera collection includes dozens of badges, silver cups, racing suits, photos, slides, and even vintage racing moving reels. The scrapbooks include MG enthusiast trips to Europe and South Africa.
Martin upgraded the wheels to Italian Boranni chrome wire wheels within the first couple of years of ownership. The transmission was replaced with a 5-speed overdrive a couple of years ago with a custom pilot bushing, but the original transmission part comes with the car. There are replacement parts, including leather door panels. A machinist by trade, Martin has always been all things mechanical and the original engine purrs and looks exceptionally clean. The car was recommissioned mechanically in Winter 2014/15, including new brake job. The body sports the original Birch Grey paint with just the right amount of wear to show its authenticity.
The purchase of the car includes the collection of ephemera, awards, and documentation to keep with the car, or the new owner may choose to donate artifacts to the New England MG T Register club for their archives. The car itself is amazing , but the love story of Martin and Janet and their cherished TF makes this a truly special car.
