Later sold James Smith of Ontario, California (California registrations from 1980s. Years later, the car was bought by a collector in Massachusetts (Certificate of Title) and then another collector in Maine. Always garaged. In the 1980s, Mr. Smith appears to have raced the car at Orange County International Raceway, with multiple receipts including one with a racing speed clocked at 111mph.
For 1966, Plymouth published a brochure called "The hot ones from Plymouth", describing the building of a street Hemi, first introduced as an option in the '66 Plymouth Belvedere Satellite. To manage the power, Plymouth enlarged the brakes by 35%, complete heavy-duty suspension, torsion bars, springs, shocks and sway bar. Wide-base, Safety-Rim wheels and high speed tires. All Belvedere Satellites came equipped with bucket seats up front, center console with shift lever in the center, padded dash, left outside rear view mirror and distinctive 426 Hemi badging. For the street version of the legendary Hemi, Plymouth featured a 10.25 compression ratio so that it could run on pump gas and not Av-gas, and a choke on the rear primaries, the Belvedere Satellite Hemi was very similar to the Hemi set-up of the specially prepared Daytona stockers and the drag strip top eliminators.
This car is finished in gloss black. There are some minor touch-ups on the back trunk. Features Firestone red line radial tires with Plymouth spinner wheel covers. Handsome embossed black vinyl interior.
