1952 Studebaker 2R5--SOLD (Wisconsin) - $0

1952 Studebaker 2R5 Pickup Truck For Sale or Trade Restored in 2001 with just over 400 miles on the truck since then, this well cared for 2R5 pickup truck is mechanically sound and ready for cruising. Powered by the 170c.i. inline 6 cylinder engine, this truck features a three-speed manual transmission on the column and starter button located under the clutch. Engine serviced but not rebuilt when the truck was restored; odometer turned back to zero (previous mileage unknown) when the truck as done over. The heater works! Defroster, too. Brand new stock 15" wheels and tires. There's a non-stock Studebaker AM radio installed in the dash (currently not hooked up); and a working, period correct vacuum powered fan mounted under the dash-it's a cool vintage accessory (pun intended). It has a 6-volt positive ground battery. Recent mechanical recommissioning includes new brake hoses and junction blocks; front and rear wheel cylinders and master cylinder; brake drums turned; new water pump installed, new battery, and new muffler. In addition to the truck, there' an optional Borg-Warner overdrive part that can be purchased for $1500. The 2R5 pickup was an example of Studebaker's runaway success with the introduction of a fresh new post-war design. Studebaker built full-scale clay mockups of their truck designs as early as 1945, well in advance of their 1948 introduction for the 1949-model year. The designs were smooth and modern. They were the first vehicles of their kind with a tough double-walled cargo bed and lacked the old-fashion running boards and cargo bed steps. The 169.6 cubic-inch 'flathead' six-cylinder engine produced the most horsepower per cubic inch of any American light truck engine of the period. The L-head 'Champion' engine offered 85 horsepower for 1952.
